ROCKY POINT — Katherine Louise Sommese, 72, of Rocky Point beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great Mimi and friend joined a joyful band of angels Tuesday morning, January 16, 2024.
She was born February 26, 1951 in Newport News, VA, the daughter of William Anderson Grubbs and Martha Clayton Grubbs. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Sonny Chilcoat and sister, Marcia Hermann.
Kathy is survived by her husband, James W. Sommese; daughter, Kimberly Warren (Richard Collett); son, Thomas “Tommy” McDonald (Steve); grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Allen Warren (Patricia) and Emma Hill; great grandson, Aiden Warren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Kathy was a lover of all animals, especially having a soft spot in her heart for cats and hummingbirds. She was an outstanding Mimi as she often volunteered at Aiden’s school and for years took him to classes at Lion’s Crest. A beautiful and vivacious lady who lit up not only a room, but the world in which she lived. Kathy was dearly loved, and she loved her family in return.
Following Kathy’s request there will be no services.
