Lorene “Lori” Nelson McMullin (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — Lorene Nelson McMullin, affectionately known as Lori, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, in Wilmington, NC. She was born on May 5, 1939, in Long Beach, CA. Lori lived a remarkable life filled with love, joy, and an unwavering spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Throughout her years, Lori found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Her passion for dancing was infectious, and she would often light up the dance floor with her contagious enthusiasm. It was through dance that she brought joy to those around her. Lori was also a devout Jehovah’s Witness for over 62 years and found peace in her faith.

Lori’s greatest joy in life came from her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her great-great-granddaughter. They were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her love and devotion to her family were unwavering, and she took great pride in being a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Preceding Lori in death were her beloved husband, Mervyn Leroy McMullin, her son, Merle McMullin, and daughter Kimberly Ann Evans. She was also preceded in death by her father, Melius B. Nelson, and her mother, Lula Mea Nelson (née Glasgo). Although they may no longer be here, their memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved them dearly.

Lori is survived by her loving daughters, Michele Mullins (Bill), Rhonda Pigford (Phillip), and Mistie McMullin. She also leaves behind a special grandson, Ryan Newman (Heather), who was more like her own son. Additionally, Lori is survived by her brothers, Bill Paxton of CA, Chuck Paxton of OR, Bonnie Fisher of Leland, NC, and Wanda Reed of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by a total of seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Lori’s kind and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her genuine love for life and her loved ones served as an inspiration to many. Although she may no longer be physically present, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

As we celebrate Lori’s life and the impact she had on us all, let us remember the joy she brought and the love she shared. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us as we navigate life’s journey.
