SOUTHPORT — Erinn Pittenger Hughes, age 67, of Southport, North Carolina passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Born April 15, 1956 in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of Patricia Arrington Pittenger and the late Paul N. Pittenger, Jr. She was an active member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church for many years where she had served as an acolyte. Ms. Erinn was a teacher at L & L Montessori School and was a director and instructor at the Oak Island School of Dance. She was also involved with many shows with Stage II Productions and was a stage manager at the Odell Williamson Auditorium. Erinn was Miss Maryland – World in 1979 where she represented Maryland in the Miss USA Pageant. She had modeled professionally in New York and Tokyo.
Survivors in addition to her mother include her step-sons, Greer Hughes and Thomas Hughes; two grandchildren, Harbor Hughes and Rowan Hughes; three brothers, Paul Pittenger, Eric Pittenger, and David Pittenger; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Russ Hughes.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Eric Mills officiating.
