WILMINGTON — William Franklin Swango, lovingly known as Bill, passed away on July 17, 2023, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 81. He was born on April 19, 1942, in Logan, West Virginia, to his parents Helen Rose Frazier Swango and Arberry Beryl Swango.
He was a loving husband to Kathryn Seitter Swango and a devoted father to Jamie Kathryn Swango (Sam Charlton). He found immense joy in being a grandfather to two grandsons.
Bill had a passion for golf, enjoyed reading and traveling, and excelled in business, sales, and leadership. In 1985, he received the ‘Spirit of Life’ Award for his outstanding contributions to the City of Hope National Medical Center.
Bill will be remembered for his remarkable character. His vivacious spirit and love for life brought joy to all. He was the life of every gathering and delighted in connecting with people. His strong will, dedication, and optimism were a driving force behind his accomplishments and inspiration to those around him.
He will be remembered as a cherished presence and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. A private service will be held at a later date.
