WILMINGTON — Connie S. Potter, age 89 of Wilmington, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the 15th of March, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
Connie was born on January 9, 1934 in Wilmington, NC to the late Julian F. and Myrtle E. Surles. She played numerous sports in high school and was an avid golfer later in life. Connie took many golf trips with her husband and friends. She always shared that she had two holes in one. Connie also enjoyed working with flowers and won many awards at Camellia Club shows. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking them on in a game of basketball.
Connie is survived by her children Edward B. Potter, III. (Elizabeth) and Susan P. Rae (Joseph), her sisters Celeta Cowan and Juanita Jeffords, grandchildren Edward B. Potter IV., Kyle E. Rae, Tyler B. Rae, and Kelly E. Rae, great-grandchildren Mila Rae, Gia Rae, and Kirby Rae, as well as many other extended family members and friends who loved and will miss her.
In addition to her parents, Connie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward B. Potter, Jr., her brothers Emerson M. Surles and Julian F. Surles, and sisters Dorothy S. Mohr, and Eleanor S. Nagel.
There will be a Visitation on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 10 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service for Connie at Pine Valley Baptist Church at 11 a.m. The procession will then proceed to a Graveside Service before interment at Oleander Memorial Gardens, where Connie will be laid to rest next to her late husband. All are welcome to attend.
