LELAND — Jay L. Barton, 79, of Leland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in Brunswick Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center. He was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on July 23, 1943. Jay served in the United States Army. He enjoyed riding his Harley and being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He was the loving husband of Cheryl Barton. Surviving are his four daughters, Joy Smith and husband Tim of Wilmington, January Wells and husband Rick of Wilmington, Tracy Simpson and husband Rob of Leland, Laurie Andrews and husband Tony of Jacksonville. He was proud of his 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Jay loved spending time with his family and friends. Those memories were what he cherished in his final days. In lieu of flowers please gather your loved ones close, spend time together and make memories that will bring you joy throughout your life.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Andrews Mortuary – Hampstead Chapel, 17730 Highway 17 North, Hampstead, 28443, where a Visitation will be held for family and friends from 2:00 PM until time of services.
