WILMINGTON — Thomas L. Leonard, age 82, of Wilmington, North Carolina went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Azalea Health and Rehab Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.
He was born on July 20, 1940 in Brunswick County, North Carolina to the late James Lennon Leonard and Ruth Ina Russ Leonard.
Thomas was retired from the Department of Transportation N.C. after working 25 years as a Sign Erector. He was a dedicated and very active member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a bright light to many people and will be dearly missed.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Jan Smith Leonard; children, Tara Bindewald of Leland, North Carolina, Christopher Pepper (Karen) of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Angela Pepper Jones (Pete) of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jason Rhodes of Leland, North Carolina, Daniel Pepper (Elizabeth) of Wilmington, North Carolina, Michelle Pepper Batts (Brent) of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Damen Thompson of Leland, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, James Rhodes of Leland, North Carolina, Huston Pepper of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Grayson Pepper of Wilmington, North Carolina.
Visitation will be from 1–2 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington. Funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Robinette officiating. A graveside service will follow at Seagate Cemetery, 52nd Street, Wilmington, North Carolina 28409.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, nurses and staff at Azalea Health and Rehab Center, and Park Avenue Baptist Church family and friends.
