NEW HANOVER COUNTY — James “Jim” Warren Lennon, age 78 of Riegelwood, North Carolina, sadly passed away at Novant Health/New Hanover Regional Medical Center on September 22, 2022.
Jim was born on October 28, 1943 in New Hanover County to the late James Edison and Lydia Mae Lennon.
Jim was a devoted family man. He was gregarious, welcoming, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He married the love of his life, Nancy, in 1963 and they had 59 wonderful years together. Jim and Nancy were both talented musicians; Nancy playing the piano and Jim mastering the guitar and singing. He was the Music Director at Riegelwood Baptist Church for over 30 years using his talents to honor and glorify our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He had an amazing memory as well, memorizing and reciting long passages such as “Brother Ire”, “The Christmas Guest”, and “Touch of the Master’s Hand.”
Jim is survived by his adoring wife of 59 years Nancy Peterson Lennon, his cherished children Jeffrey Warren Lennon (Alisa) and Jill Lennon Applewhite (Benjie); grandchildren James Lennon, Jessica Lennon, Adam Applewhite (Sandra), Rebecca Hester (Jared), Leanne Applewhite, and great grandchildren Isabella Applewhite, A.J. Applewhite, William Applewhite, Ali Applewhite and Logan Hester, as well as many other extended family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Jim is predeceased by both his aforementioned parents, along with his brother Robert E. (Bobby) Lennon and sister-in-law Geraldine; his sister, J. Elaine Babson (Bobby).
