WILMINGTON — Rebecca Joyce Burnett Williams, 93, of Wilmington passed August 26, 2022, at Azalea Health.
She was born November 9, 1928, in New Hanover County to the late William Edward and Mary Lucile Burnett, number four of 8 children. Becky grew up on Masonboro Sound. She graduated from New Hanover High School 1948, and was Vice President of Senior Girls YWCA.
Becky married the love of her life, Charles Thomas Williams, on December 11, 1948.
Together they had 3 daughters, Joyce Susan Williams Craven, Beverly June Williams Ciandella and Margaret Ann Williams Coker. She was a member of Sunset Baptist Church for over 55 years, where she taught Sunday School and GAs. Becky loved cooking, baking, clamming, crabbing, gathering oysters, cooking those crustaceans of the sound, big family gatherings, and camping with family and friends.
Upon entering into Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior, she was reunited with her beloved husband Tommy of 70 years. She was also proceeded in death by her daughter Beverly, both parents, brother William “Buddy” Edward Burnett Jr, sisters Margaret Burnett Buffaloe, Ella Mae Burnett Bird, Ruth Burnett Price and Betty June Burnett Farmer.
Becky is survived, by her daughters Susan Williams Craven, and husband Larry Craven, of Castle Hayne, Margaret Williams Coker, and husband Dr. Stephen Coker of Morrisville, NC. Five very loved grandchildren, Kristy Flewwellin Louden, Rebecca Flewwellin, Timothy Flewwellin, Julia Burnett Washburn, Cameron Washburn Krepps, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, sisters Greta Burnett Johnson, Julie Burnett Orrell, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Oakdale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm before the funeral at Andrews Mortuary Market Street.
