Peggy was born in Red Springs, NC on April 21, 1932, to the late Jack Johnson Brigman and Helen Montjoy Brigman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Chester James Benson; two sons, Robert Gilmore and Mark Gilmore, and grandson Scott Gilmore. She is survived by one son, Michael Herbert Gilmore of Las Vegas, NV; two stepdaughters, Suzan Chamberlain (husband Wayne) and Brenda Benson both of Wilmington; two stepsons Thomas (wife Judy) of Charlotte, and Randy Benson of Wilmington.
In 1961 Peggy dedicated her life by water baptism to Jehovah God. Her greatest joy came from working with her husband Chester, helping others learn the truth about God’s Kingdom and its King, Jesus Christ. In 1995, at the age of 63, she and her husband Chester learned a new language in order to assist the growing number of Spanish speaking persons who desired to learn more from the Bible about God, Jesus, and the Kingdom. At the time of her death, she was associated with the Gordon Road Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wilmington, NC.
