ROCKY POINT — Suzanne Sue Cooper, 81, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and God’s faithful servant passed peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Novant Medical New Hanover Regional Medical Center with Debbie and Randy at her side.
She was born July 23, 1940, in Waukegan, Illinois, the daughter of Albert William Sue, Jr. and Mary Malavarsic Sue. In addition to her parents Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Cooper.
Suzanne is survived by her daughter, Deborah Peterson and husband, Michael; son, Kenneth Randall “Randy” Cooper; grandchildren, Olivia Treto Lesine (Devin), Gavin Cooper, Jackson Peterson and Bailey Peterson; great grandchildren, Peyton Lesine, Harper Lesine, and Sophia Lesine; brother, Albert W. Sue III (Marsha), many nieces and nephews; special friends, Janice Sessoms, Peggy Casey and Vi Silva.
She retired from the State of NC after working for 30 years. Many will remember Sue owning Attic Memories, a consignment shop in Burgaw. She was a key member of Burgaw Lions Club and participated in many district, state and national events – once attended a national convention in Chicago.
Sue was a lady of many interests and talents, always doing things to help others. In her Christian walk she was a member of Burgaw United Methodist Church. Sue’s joy in life was her family, her church family, and her many friends. Her radiant smile, love of laughter, and sharing of her common sense will truly be missed.
A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Matthew Hayes and The Rev. Jack Ruth conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in honor and memory of Sue may be given to Burgaw Lions Club, PO Box 1252, Burgaw, NC 28425.
