WILMINGTON — Jody McKoy Lane, 68, of Wilmington passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, surrounded by her family.
She was a graduate of New Hanover High School and UNCW. Jody spent a lifetime in service to others through decades of work in the Community College system and in the charity work she pursued at Saint Mary’s Outreach and many other charities after her retirement. She loved gardening, with a particular fondness for roses, and was an accomplished cook and baker.
Jody was an exceptional wife, sister, and mother. But the role she cherished most and fulfilled with unquestionable enthusiasm and success was that of Granny. The defining characteristics of her life were an unparalleled generosity and a fierce unwavering devotion to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Greg; her children: Douglas (Angi), Michelle (Dale), Melissa, John Kevin (Christian), Michael (Beth) and Yuli; her 8 brothers and sisters: Johnnie, Maureen (JR), Mark (Lisa), Monica (Linwood), Jerry, Andy (Tracy), Betsy (Brian) and Ronnie (Dave); her mother-in-law, Adelaide Lane; her brother-in-law, Tommy; her grandchildren: Kaden, Brittany, Courtney, Samantha, Sierra, John Austin, Sydney, Samuel, Isaac, Moira, Cohen; and all her nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Betty McKoy, her father-in-law, G.T. Lane, and her sister-in-law, Susan McKoy.
A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am Monday, May 9, 2022 at Basilica Shrine of St. Mary. The family will receive friends following Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Jody’s memory to Saint Mary’s Outreach or to Basilica Shrine of St. Mary.
