
HAMPSTEAD — Robert Isaac Swinson, Sr., 80, of Hampstead passed gently from his earthly life Thursday, March 31, 2022.
He was born September 5, 1941 in Onslow County, the son of Isaac Swinson and Sina Waller Swinson. In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Virginia Sidbury Swinson; sisters, Ruby S. Padgett, Thelma S. Gill, and Edna S. Pettaway; and brother, Earl Swinson.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert “Robbie” Swinson; daughter, Lynn Gideon and husband, Todd; grandchildren, Greyson Swinson, Chesnee Swinson and Mason Gideon; sister, Marie S. Hall; many extended family members and friends.
He was retired from General Electric Company where he worked in the nuclear fuel manufacturing division for many years.
Robert was a faithful and longtime member of Blakes Chapel Advent Christian Church where he served in many capacities through the years.
Most important, Robert loved and cared for his family. Lots of happy family memories . . . when Robbie and Lynn were children many days were enjoyed camping, surf fishing, mountain trips, and traveling. For fun and relaxing time Robert enjoyed oystering, shrimping, and fishing. In recent years Robert took up hunting. How Robert loved all seafood and his Pepsi colas – cold or hot. Robert’s presence on this earth will be missed.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Blakes Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery, 88 Blakes Chapel Road, Hampstead. Pastor Edward Dowd and Pastor Steve Spearing will conduct the service. Following the graveside service the family will receive friends at the cemetery.
