Sally Ann Smith Davis, 88

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Ann Davis, daughter of William Marcus Smith and Sally Hood Smith of Wayne County, NC, passed peacefully December 5 at hospice in Wilmington. She is survived by her husband Charles (Bud) Davis and their four children, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Daughter Mildred Davis Flory her husband Dave Flory and their children Davis Flory and Suzann Flory Novak and her husband, Joe Novak.

Kimberly Davis Watters and husband, Thomas S. Watters.

Beth Davis Falls, and husband Jeffery Falls.  Their daughters Amber Corey Falls, Great Granddaughter, Chelynn M. Hairston. Maryann Falls Smith and her husband Frank Smith.

Charles Maxwell Davis and his wife Jen L. Davis. Their children Charles Gabriel Davis and Anna Grace Davis.

Ann was also survived by her two sisters Lib Seymour of Wayne County, and Alyene Keene living in the Charlotte area her nephew Gordon Maxwell and his wife Charlotte Maxwell.

Ann grew up Goldsboro and graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1951. Ann went to nursing school at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.  She met Bud during their high school days and they were married after Ann graduated from nursing school in 1954. Ann and Bud moved from Raleigh to Wrightsville Beach in 1956.  Ann and Bud lived and raised their children on “dear old Harbor Island”.

Ann worked at Bullock Hospital, Cape Fear Memorial and Babies Hospital during her career as a Registered Nurse.

Ann and Bud enjoyed raising their children on Harbor Island at Wrightsville Beach.  They enjoyed gardening and entertaining on their porch and pier.  Ann really enjoyed decorating and entertaining for the annual Flotilla. Ann was a life long member and leader of the Harbor Island Garden Club and was proud of the many beautification projects at Wrightsville Beach.  She was also proud of her title as the “Oldest Vertical Member” of the Harbor Island Garden Club.

Ann was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Wilmington since 1956. She served the church in many capacities related to building and grounds and the flower committees.

The family wishes to thank staff of NHRMC and Lower Cape Fear Life Care for their excellent care and kindness. 

The funeral services will be held December 10, 2021 at 1pm at First Baptist Church, 5th and Market Street, Wilmington, NC.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Harbor Island Garden Club.  HarborIslandGardenClub.com
