William “Wayne” Eudy, Sr., 82

CAROLINA BEACH — William “Wayne” Eudy, Sr. died November 12, 202I at Lower Cape Fear Life Center after a brief illness.

He was born in Oakburo, NC on September 1, 1939 to Lawrence Ashley Eudy and Mary Arzelia Whitley Eudy. Wayne grew up in Albemarle, NC. He received a bachelors and masters degrees from Wake Forest University and a Ph.D from North Carolina State University.

He worked in pharmaceutical research at Norwich Eaton in Norwich, NY from 1968 – 1971. He was a Senior Research Director with several patents at International Paper Company from I971 – 1999. Wayne retired in 1999 and went on a five month sailing trip with longtime friend, Jerry Van Natta.

Wayne was a member and a past Commodore of the Newburgh Yacht Club from 1973 – 2003. Wayne was a director on the Cornwall-St. Luke’s Hospital Board for 31 years. Wayne and Jan owned several rental properties in Carolina Beach and Wilmington since 1980’s. Wayne developed Seadrift condominiums in Carolina Beach with two partners in2003, then developed the Pearl condominiums in 2007.

Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post 129 and played Trivia every Wednesday night on the “‘Wayne’s World” team. He and his coffee friends solved the world’s problems between 8:00 – 9:00 AM at local coffee places from 2008 to the present day. He and his wife Jan were members of Holy Cross Episcopal Church.

Wayne was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his wife, Jan Eudy, daughter Audra Tenpenny (Brian), sons William Wayne Eudy, Jr. (Kristen) and Nicholas Stendebach and grandchildren William Michael Eudy, Reagan Anne Eudy, Samantha Elizabeth Tenpenny, Alexander Jaedan Stendebach, Logan Wolfe Stendebach and Wyatt Jonathan Stendebach.

Memorials in Wayne’s name may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, American Legion Post 129, Federal Point Help Center or Lower Cape Fear Life Center.

A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be at the American Legion Post 129, 1500 Bridge Barrier Road, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 1-5PM.
