Judy Ann Wolf Gmytruk, 87

WILMINGTON — Judy Ann Wolf Gmytruk affectionately known to many as just “Ma”, 78, passed away at Lower Cape Fear Life Care on October 27, 2021.

She was born on August 11, 1943, in Erie, PA to the late Lester and Frances Stafford.

She is preceded in death by her husband of over 20 years, John Gmytruk, two children, Jerry Wolf Jr. and Julie Ann Wolf Curry, stepdaughter in law Mary Ann Gmytruk, her brother James “Buppa” Stafford and sister-in-law Jeanne Campbell Stafford.

She is survived by her youngest child Jody Ann Wolf (Kurt Taube), stepsons, Jeremy and Tony Gmytruk, her son in law Jeff Curry, her five grandchildren, Jaime Curry Jackson (Shane), Jeremy Curry (Kara), Jessica Wolf, Kaitlyn Davis (Phillip) and Candace Gmytruk (Jamie). Her grandchildren were her world until her great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Maverick Jackson, Grayson and Eliza Curry, and Jacob Gmytruk were born. She is also survived by all the “Stafford’s” (her brother’s family) that she treated and thought of as her own children, Kathleen and Dennis Judge, Jim and Kathy Stafford, Ann and Ron Towne, Mike and Julie Stafford and Joanne and Gary Bases. Last but not least, she is survived by her most favorite “child”, her canine companion, Kirby.

Ma worked for over 20 years at the Kids Connection Daycare in Shallotte, North Carolina before going to work with her son Jerry at his company, A Wolf Company. Prior to moving to North Carolina, she worked in Erie, PA for the Millcreek School District as a teacher’s assistant at Asbury Elementary School for over 15 years.

With Ma you never had to wonder where you stood, she told it like it was. She hoarded her memories through the cards she was given, the photos that she took and kept newspaper clippings anytime she saw someone she knew. As many know, Ma never forgot a holiday, a birthday, or any special day. She would send a card to you in the mail and when you would go to the mailbox you never had to wonder who the card was from!!  She loved watering her plants both inside and outside, feeding the birds and squirrels in the back yard and any other critters, including racoons, that would show up in the yard. She loved the Game Show Network but watching Paw Patrol came in at a close second. She had a healthy diet of mashed potatoes, caramel Ghirardelli chocolates, Scallops and cooked a mean dish of stuffing at Thanksgiving. Ma loved a good gathering; she loved to celebrate occasions and do it BIG!

A celebration of life will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, November 2nd at Andrews Mortuary at 1617 Market St, Wilmington, NC 28405. The family asks that you wear your most comfortable clothes.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Lower Cape Fear Life Care (Hospice). The family cannot thank Hospice enough for the love and constant care that they gave to Ma. They are truly Angels that walk amongst us.
