BURGAW — Sarah Elizabeth Callaghan Brice, age 38, of Burgaw, left her earthly life for her eternal rest on Thursday, September 30, 2021, from Lower Cape Fear HealthCare.
She was born on May 31, 1983 in New Hanover County; the daughter of John Callaghan of New Hampshire and Angela Hanchey Rimes of Jacksonville. Sarah was predeceased by her grandfather, Emmette Hanchey and great grandmothers, Edna Garriss and Virginia Hanchey.
Surviving, in addition to her parents is her best friend and husband of seven years, Benjamin “Ben” Brice of the home; sister, Tracy Hardie and husband, Shane of Jacksonville; brother, Daniel Callaghan of Wallace; grandmother, Peggy Hunt and husband, John of Wallace; uncle, Wade Hanchey of Burgaw; mother-in-law, Priscilla Brice of Leland; father-in-law, William “Bill” Brice, III of Wallace; her canine companions, “Zoe”(18 years old) and “Achilles” (14 years old); her feline friend, “Milo” (14 years old); numerous extended family and friends that loved Sarah dearly.
Sarah was a loving wife and caring daughter, granddaughter, and sister. She was not just a teacher, but also a big sister, a counselor, and a mother figure to a lot of kids during the 12 years she taught at Champion Education Center. Sarah was passionate about loving people. With a big heart, she would do anything for anybody. Sarah was madly in love with Ben, and he was her. Their life together was too short, but they were very special. Sarah’s life touched many people during the thirty-eight years she was on this earth. She will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Brice Cemetery, Wallace.
The family will receive friends from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. at the cemetery.
