WILMINGTON — Josephine Schulken Woodruff, 92, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington, NC.
Born June 9, 1929 in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Engelhard Henry Schulken and Daisy Lee Schulken. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Woodruff and sisters, Patricia Ann White and Elizabeth Lee Hicks.
Josephine was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling, antiquing, dancing, gardening and being with friends. She and John lived in Burlington, NC for many years before retiring to Wrightsville Beach and later moved back to Wilmington. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Josephine is survived by two daughters, Lisa Little (Jack) of Wilmington, NC and Angela Syme (Alistair) of Alloa, Scotland; one sister, Anna Marie Christiansen (Mark) of Summerville, SC and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Woodruff of Burlington, NC. Also surviving are several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, September 11, 2021, At St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 9:30am until the service hour. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, or to the charity of one’s choice.
