CALABASH — John David Efird, 69, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 7, 1952, in Albemarle, Stanly County. His parents were David Cullen Efird and Ruth Jackson Efird.
John retired from OverNite Trucking Company as a professional truck driver. After his retirement, he moved to be near the coastal waters in the Calabash/Sunset Beach community in Brunswick County.
John is survived by two sons, Joshua David Efird and Brian James Efird; grandchildren, Elaina Rae Efird, Miley Mae Efird and Lucas Jayce Efird; sister, Sarah Efird Richardson; and niece, Taffy Smith.
His memorial services are being planned for a late date in Albemarle.
