Harold T. ‘Stump’ Spencer

SOUTHPORT — Harold T. “Stump” Spencer, 87, passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021.

Harold was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Dosher Memorial Hospital, son of the late Clarence and Ruth Spencer. Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from MOTSU. He was an electrician, plumber and had served on the local ABC board in Southport. Stump was a lifelong fisherman, having worked on several shrimp boats. Mr. Spencer was a longtime Shriner and Mason.

Survivors include his three children, Patricia Mims, and her husband, Roger, Sandra Allen, and Brenda Bowling, and her husband, Ken; nine grandchildren, Sharon Tubman, and her husband, Jim, Kimberly Kreeger, and her husband, Mike, Amanda Lombardi, and her husband, Tim, Dawnelle Minton, and her husband, Kevin, Tracy Steed, and her husband, Matt, Keith Bowling, and his wife, Rachael, Ervin Spencer, and his wife, Jen, Laralyn Spencer and Steven Spencer; and 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Lewis Spencer; son, Harold T. “Buddy” Spencer Jr.; and grandson, Michael Spencer.

A gathering for family and friends in Harold’s honor will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Peacock-Newnam & White Chapel, Southport.
