Etta Rogers Rooks

ROCKY POINT — Etta Rogers Rooks, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Carolina Bay Health Center. She was born May 14, 1927, to the late Charles Raymond Rogers and James Ola Bell Rogers.

She and her husband were owners of Rooks Farm Service, which they opened in 1960. Etta was a lifelong member of Riley’s Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Melza Rooks, and his wife, Libby, of Burgaw and James Michael Rooks, and his wife, Barbara, of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Dewey Rivenbark Jr., and his wife, Michelle, Michael Rivenbark, and his wife, Angie, JoAnn Rivenbark Jones, and her husband, Jeremiah, Jeff Rooks, and his wife, Ginny, Sabra Rooks, and her husband, Chip, and Jay Rooks, and his fiancée, Valery; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melza Allison Rooks; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rivenbark; sisters, Helen Daniels and Ola Ball; and brothers, Elmore Rogers, Raymond Rogers and Jim Rogers.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 17, at Riley’s Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. E.C. Mattocks officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior, beginning at noon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rooks, Jay Rooks, Patrick Rivenbark, Frank Rogers, Phil Daniels and Stan Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riley’s Creek Baptist Church.
