CASTLE HAYNE — Brenda Annette Rouse Leonard, 68, died Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center. Brenda was born June 26, 1952, in Kinston.

Brenda helped her husband with the family business B & L Custom Shop, she enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, especially the mountains and visiting Cherokee.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Eugene “Gene” Leonard Jr.; daughter, Sherry Leonard Benton, and her husband, David, of Castle Hayne; two grandchildren, Haley Leonard and Harold Leonard IV; three sisters, Betty Saunders, and her husband, Jerry, of Castle Hayne, Marie Rhodes, and her husband, Roy, of Hampstead and Teresa Rouse of Wilmington; brother, John Rouse, and his wife, Melinda; sisters in-law, Marilyn Grice, and her husband, Herbie, and Rose Watkins, and her husband, David; many nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Rascal. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William Rouse and Helen Elizabeth Smith Rouse; son, Buddy Leonard; two brothers, Gene Rouse and William Alan Rouse, three sisters, Faye Landi, Nina Barnhill and Wanda Costin; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Caton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, at Greenlawn Memorial Park led by the Rev. David Porter. Her pallbearers will be Jerry, Keith, Freddy, Ray, D.J. and Ryan.
