WILMINGTON — James Edward “Jim” Schrichte, 84, peacefully passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center.

Jim was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late Robert George and Jane Ann Schrichte. He was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, where he graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1955. He then went on to play baseball and graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Engineering in 1962. Following schooling, he went to work for EI Du Pont from 1962 to 1998. He retired from DuPont as a senior research engineer in the Textile Fibers Department.

Jim was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He and his wife Nancy enjoyed traveling and visiting other countries. He enjoyed playing golf with the Beau Rivage Men’s Golf Association and watching sports. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, which he enjoyed and loved. As well as being a member of the Knights of Columbus for 50-plus years.

Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Dillard Schrichte; siblings, Judi (Harold) Smith, Chris (Ann) Schrichte and Bill (Judi) Schrichte; children, Patricia Jones and Charles (Pam) Schrichte; grandchildren, Brianne Jones and Alex Jones; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, at Andrews Mortuary, 4108 S. College Road, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday, June 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
