James William ‘Jim’ Ace

HAMPSTEAD — James William “Jim” Ace, 76, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.

He was born June 11, 1944, in Vestal, New York, to the late Gerald and Leona Ace. Jim is survived by his wife, Gail Ace; sister, Merle Zimmer; daughters, Stephanie Taylor and DeAnne Chryst. Jim and Gail were married 51 years and have eight grandchildren.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy and worked most of his life as an engineer with IBM, and then he and Gail retired to the North Carolina coast, where he was actively involved in Faith Harbor UMC and The Emmaus Community.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 4, at Faith Harbor UMC, Surf City, with a receiving line from 1 to 1:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Harbor UMC Building Fund, The Anchor UMC or Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice Center.
