Joseph ‘Joe’ Trombino Jr., 76, retired CIA officer

HAMPSTEAD — Joseph “Joe” Trombino Jr., 76, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021. He was born in Manhattan but grew up in Staten Island, New York. Joe was a NYC Police officer before spending two years as a sergeant in the U.S. Army with service in Germany.

He then became a CIA officer, serving in the United States and overseas. Joe retired after a 24-year distinctive federal career. He was awarded the Intelligence Medal of Merit in recognition of his many achievements.

Joe enjoyed golf and fishing, but his passion was ham radio. He had been a ham radio operator for over 50 years with last call sign W2KJ. Joe was a lifelong New York Yankees fan and also liked watching OU Sooner football games with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; son and daughter from a previous marriage, Joseph III & Lisa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Catherine Trombino; and brother, Lawrence Trombino.
