Theresa Ann ‘Terry’ Fountain, 80, former owner and operator of Fountain Tire Service

Theresa Ann ‘Terry’ Fountain

WILMINGTON — Theresa Ann “Terry” Fountain, 80, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Bradley Creek Health Center.

Terry was born Sept. 4, 1940, in Wilmington to G.G. “Gus” and Dienie D. Fountain. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and husband, Robert Reynolds.

She is survived by her brother, William “Jeff” Fountain, and his wife, Renae; sons, Robert “Tommy” Reynolds, and his wife, Wanda, and Steve Reynolds; daughter, Cindy Fountain, and her husband, Rob Stokes; granddaughter, Amanda Shingleton, and her husband, Justin; grandson, Robert Reynolds; her most recent joy, great-grandson, Jackson; and bonus grandchildren, Elydia and Logan Stokes.

Terry grew up and lived in Wilmington all of her life. She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1958 and still had close friends she met in school. After marrying and having children, she went to work for her father in the family business, Fountain Tire Service, which she later became an owner and operator until the business closed in 1997.

She was a “Crazy Cat Lady” who loved her kitties and doggies. The neighborhood wildlife and critters could always depend on a meal waiting for them at her backdoor. She was a weekend gardener who enjoyed planting and growing flowers and vegetables. She loved her family more than anything and only wished for their happiness and security.

The family will plan a memorial and celebration of life at a later date.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Bradley Creek Health and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their time and compassion.

Being the animal and wildlife nut she was, memorials are asked to be made in Terry’s name to your favorite local animal rescue or charity group or Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.

Share online condolences with the family at Andrews Mortuary & Crematory.
