SOUTHPORT — Henry Miles “Mike” Tedder, 77, peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 7, 202, at Lower Cape Fear Life Center, Wilmington. Mike was born in Waxhaw to Henry and Margaret Tedder.
Earning degrees from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and Duquesne University, Mike’s long career in information technology and communications spanned from Eastern Airlines in Charlotte and Miami, Florida; to PPG Industries in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; to Whirlpool Corporation in St. Joseph, Michigan; and Caremark Corporation in Chicago, Illinois.
Mike cherished the many friends he made along the way as he and Linda found their way back home to North Carolina to the Southport area in 2004. Not slowing down, or maybe just a bit to play a little more golf, Mike began his second act career as a realtor with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty. He found joy in matching folks with the right property as well as serving as one of Southport’s Chamber ambassadors.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret “Peg” Tedder Fredeen.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 53 years, Linda Gaisford Tedder; daughter, Kristine Tedder Sipe, and her husband, Andrew, of Surf City; son, John Miles Tedder, and his wife, Maria, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Christian Tedder, Caterina Tedder and Anna Sipe; brother-in-law, Lowell “Fred” Fredeen; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Imbriglia and Cindy Close; nephews and nieces, Les Fredeen, Collyer Klee, Carrie Turbiner, Andrew Bell and Adam Bell.
If you asked our dad about his greatest accomplishment, he’d respond that it was his children. He was our biggest fan. With a grin on his face, his love of his family, friends and his Lord shined through always.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Anyone wishing to remember Mike with a memorial is asked to consider a donation to Hampstead United Methodist Church, 15395 Highway 17, Hampstead, NC 28443.
