LELAND — Maude Irene White Fryar, 92, went peacefully into the arms of her Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, April 2, 2021.
Maude was a faithful member of Elah Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught in Sunday School, Sunbeams and vacation bible school. Maude was a volunteer in the school system and the Leland Library.
Maude was the wife of the late Louis Edward Fryar Sr., retired U.S. Navy; and the daughter of the late James Thomas and Katie Woodcock White. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James A. White and Donald R. White Sr.; four sisters, Catherine White Skipper, Hazel White Dean, Pearl White Huggins and Beatrice White Sellars; and two nieces, Judith Skipper Moore and Brenda Skipper Hern.
She has four children, Glenna Fryar Butler (Ken) of Leland, Louis Edward Fryar Jr. of Needville, Texas, Timothy Alan Fryar (Ethel) of Monroe and Nancy Fryar Narron (Randy) of Wilmington. She is survived by one sister, Lanita Henderson of Leland. She has 11 grandchildren, Michael Fryar (Eydie), Rebecca Hansen (John), Benjamin Fryar (Laci), Robert Fryar, Heather Roseman (Anthony), Brandon Linkous, Kendall Butler, Christopher Batson, Patrick Linkous (Victoria), Katie Hill and Priscilla Eason (Tyler); 19 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Haeleigh, Amy, Austin, Micaela, A.J., Re’Gan, Emma, Natashia, Arianna, Makennah, Matthew, Trevor, Noah, Josiah, Scarlett, Cameron, Isabella and Casey; and one great-great-grandchild, Aubrey; many special nieces, nephews, friends and family.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, in the Fellowship Hall at Elah Baptist Church in Leland with the service continuing in the main sanctuary at 2 p.m. Burial will follow services in Nelson Cemetery. Please be sure to follow all COVID-19 safety protocol.
