CALABASH — Robert Lee “Robbie” Blanton, 57, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021.

Robbie was born Feb. 28, 1964, in Fayetteville, to the late James Percy Blanton and Faye Timothene Windham Spencer. In addition to his parents, Robbie was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bruce Spencer; grandparents, William and Shirley Windham and Annie Jane Blanton-Simmons.

Robbie was a 1983 graduate of Socastee High School, Socastee, South Carolina, and excelled at playing basketball, a game that he loved. He was a huge fan of UNC Carolina Basketball and followed them very closely. Robbie was a heavy equipment operator and was most recently a self-employed truck driver.

Surviving are his significant other, Jody Zaleski of Shallotte; son, Kodie Blanton, and his wife, Kayla, of Longs, South Carolina; daughter, Stephanie B. Galey, and her husband, Dwane, of Supply; brother, Timothy Blanton, and his husband, Jim, of Punta Gorda, Florida; two sisters, Beverly Moran, and her husband, Rick, of Calabash, and Debra Marcum, and her husband, Anthony, of Conway, South Caraolina; grandchildren, Mason Blanton, Laiken Blanton and Baby Galey, who is due in October; nieces, Tiffney Stowell, Sophie Stowell, Ryan Stowell and Candy Gore; nephews, Will Marcum and Travis Marcum; and special friends, Keith Pyle, John Wood and Terry McLamb.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 1, at Shepherd Assembly Church, 6720 Old Shallotte Road, Ocean Isle Beach. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.

The family asks, with gratitude, that donations be made in Robbie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
