HAMPSTEAD — Raymond Joseph Spillane, 87, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2021. He was born March 1, 1933, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, to Raymond E. and Catherine Spillane.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Syble Crumby Spillane; and infant son, Michael.
He retired after a 21-year career in the U.S. Marine Corps as a captain. He then went on to establish the electronics program at Craven Community College, where he instructed for over 20 years.
He is survived by his sons, Raymond Spillane Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Apex, Donald Spillane, and his wife, Jill, of Cary, David Spillane, and his wife, Mandy, of Panama City, Florida, and Richard Spillane, and his wife, Dana, of Hampstead; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Godard of South Hadley, Massachusetts.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, at All Saints Catholic Church, Hampstead.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the LAMB Foundation in care of the Hap Hansen Knight of Columbus Council, Hampstead.
