WILMINGTON — Albert Edward “Sonny” Rose, 88, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020. Sonny was born June 9, 1932, in Rocky Mount.

Sonny was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Coastal Well Drilling for many years until his retirement. Sonny was proud to be a member of MENSA Society for many years.

Remembered are Sonny’s wife, Betty Coghill Rose, who passed away October 26, 2020; parents, John Albert Rose and Lula Rooks Rose; brother, John Robert Rose; and sister, Carolyn Rose Oliver Freeman.

Sonny is survived by his children from his first marriage, Larry, Sonny and Karen; brother, Larry W. Rose, and his wife, Diane; sister-in-law, Karen Rose; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel led by the Rev. J.D. Herchenhahn. Burial will be held in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
