KURE BEACH — Elizabeth “Betty” Swann, 75, a resident of Kure Beach for the last 25 years, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at Trinity Grove.

She was the beloved wife of Conrad L. Swann. Betty was born in March 1945 in Fountain Green, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Odessa Hughes of Perryman, Maryland.

Betty was a graduate of Aberdeen Highschool in Aberdeen, Maryland. During her time there, she was active in sports. She retired from federal service as chief, Technical Services Division, Civilian Personnel Office, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

She was a member of the Kure Memorial Lutheran Church, Kure Beach, and actively volunteered in and around the town of Kure Beach. Her volunteer work included Keys Homeowner’s Association, Meals on Wheels program, chairman of the Board Of Adjustments for the town of Kure Beach and Friends of Feline Program.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sister, JoAnn Wallace; brother-in-law, John F. Swann (Sophia); nieces, Susan Shepard, Judy Soler and Kari Wallace; and nephews, Jonathan, Peter and Scott Swann.

Contributions in her honor may be made to Kure Memorial Lutheran Church or Friends of Felines.
