Andrew Taft Lewis Jr., 88, served in the Coast Guard during World War II

BOLIVIA — Mr. Andrew Taft Lewis Jr., 88, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020.

He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran who served during World War II. Andrew was a hardworking gentleman who loved his family. As a teenager, he worked alongside his father on their farm raising tobacco and vegetables. He later worked at several of the local ports as a longshoreman. He loved cattle and enjoyed raising them on his own farm. Andrew was a member of several organizations throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew T. and Lucy Garner Lewis; wife, Joyce Lewis; daughter, Sylvia Hewett; sister, Gertrude L. Williams; and brother, Elmer Lewis.

Survivors include his daughter, Catherine Wall; sister, Kitty Bachelor; special niece and caregiver, Linda Maria Williams and Chris Linker; special great-great-niece, Emma; special great-great-nephews, Martin (aka “burr-rabbit”) and Andrew; and a host of extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at the chapel of White Funeral & Cremation Service, Bolivia, at a later date.
