Steven M. ‘Mark’ Willetts, 39, patriotic historian who loved his country

WILMINGTON — Mr. Steven M. “Mark” Willetts, 39, finished his work here Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020. He was born Jan. 10, 1981, in Wilmington to Jake Willetts Jr. and Gwendolyn Gause Willetts.

Mark was a strong, patriotic historian who loved his country, his family and his life. He was big fan of NASCAR, with his favorite driver being Jimmie Johnson. He loved trucks, fishing, bowling and playing pool. He also loved animals and never met a dog that he didn’t like or didn’t like him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Angela Sorensen; brother, Jake Willetts; aunts, Teresa Ivey, and her husband, Wayne, and Anita Taylor, and her husband, Jay; nephews, Joshua Dale, and his wife, Kayla, and Jakob Sorensen; niece, Jordann Dale; great-nephews, Ameare McDuffie and Kaden Dale; and best friend, Trey Duncan.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30, at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Seagate Cemetery with Pastor Henry Carroll officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Junction, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317. Victory Junction is a camp for children with medical needs.
