Drusilla Quinn Smittle, 90, artist and longtime member of The Poets

Drusilla Quinn Smittle

SOUTHPORT — The one and only Drusilla Quinn Smittle, 90, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020.

Drusilla Smittle was the wife of the late George Bryan Smittle. She was the incomparable mother to Maradee Barr (Larry Barr), Kimberly Caroon and Roz Alfonso. She was the amazing grandmother to Mallary and Hailey Barr, Ali, Austin, Zack Alfonso, Cash and Sky Caroon. She was the venerable great-grandmother to Kai and Koa Alfonso.

Drusilla was a friend to many of the people of Southport and had a very special group of friends known as the “The Poets,” a group of poem-loving individuals who have met weekly for over 30 years.

Drusilla had a great love of life and invited all into her inner circle, and she was able to unconditionally care and support all in her orbit.

A memorial of her life will be held in the post-COVID-19 world and will be announced to all.

Drusilla will be greatly missed by all.

Contributions in her memory should be directed to the Franklin Art Gallery, where much of her art has been on display.

We, the family, are grateful for all the time we had with her. Rest in peace, Drusilla, we all love you.
