CASTLE HAYNE — Michael Patrick Mandola, 63, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at his home. Michael was born Oct. 3, 1957, at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, Wyoming.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Patrick Mandola Jr.; mother, Mamie Francis Corder Quarto; stepfather, Ralph L. Quarto; brother, Anthony Mandola; and son, Keith Scott Mandola.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dolores Ann Mandola; son, Michael Christopher Mandola, and his wife, Lucretia Britton Mandola; daughters, Dawn Marie Mandola, and Samantha Lynn Mandola Melvin, and her husband, Dreward Melvin; grandchildren, Anthony Keith Mandola, Christopher Michael Mandola, Gregory Ryan Mandola, Hannah Mae Mandola, Kendall Jade Melvin, William Chase Mandola and Colton Drew Melvin; brother, Mathew Mandola; and sister, Kathy Mandola Abbott.
Michael was a U.S. Marine veteran and a proud patriot. He enjoyed his days riding motorcycles and hanging out with his fellow riders. He loved his grandchildren and children with a stubborn and sometimes brassiness that outsiders wouldn’t understand. He loved sports, namely, football, NASCAR, basketball and baseball. After becoming a double amputee, he really enjoyed just getting in the car and going for rides, with no particular destination in mind. He was an animal lover and loved babies; they brought him joy and made him smile.
Michael will be missed, and his spirit will carry on through his family and loved ones.
