WILMINGTON — Mark Rodgers Barfoot, 69, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 13, 1950, to Leon Barfoot and Mildred Smith Barfoot. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shari Dianne Barfoot, Anita Barfoot Merritt and Judy Barfoot Rooks.
Mark is survived by his mother, Mildred Smith Barfoot; sisters, Donna Dennison, and her husband, David, Teresa Newton, and her husband, Jimmy; brother, (Big) Steve Barfoot; as well as many loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mark attended the Sunset Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses with his family. He enjoyed being with his spiritual brothers and sisters. Mark held the Bible truth of the resurrection on a paradise earth very dear to his heart. He talked of it daily and told all those he met about God’s new system to come.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, with the Sunset Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses via Zoom.
The family wish to express many thanks to Lower Cape Fear Life Care and the wonderful care provided by all the nurses, Shawn, Trista, Charlotte and Donna. Thank you to Mark’s oncologist, Dr. Arb, for her care of Mark over the years. A special thanks to Mark’s aide and buddy, Teresa.
