WILMINGTON — Joseph Samuel “Joe” Walker Jr., 65, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, after experiencing a heart attack at his residence.

He leaves behind his wife of over 35 years, Nancy Boyd Walker; children, Chris Walker, Brent Walker, Jeremy Walker, Dan Walker, and his wife, Jennifer, and Kim Newell, and her husband Terry-Michael; sister, Carolyn Spears; and brother, Stephen Ike Walker. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Anna, Curtis, Grayson, Bailey and Zoe.

Joe began his long career in textiles in the 1970s at TexFi in Rocky Mount. From there, his career took him to the coastal communities of Ocean Isle; Pawley’s Island, South Carolina; Long Beach, California; and finally, Wilmington.

Joe was known by family and friends as a sweet, giving man with a quick sense of humor. He loved well-made T-shirts, golf, country music, Gladiator and pecan pie. Joe was so special in many ways, and his friends and family will cherish their time with him.

The family will hold a private service in memory of Joe.
