
WILMINGTON — Nan Elizabeth Jones Bridges, 86, died Saturday, July 25, 2020, peacefully at her home. She was born June 29, 1934, to Clarence Leflore Jones and Elizabeth Lee Wall Jones in Jackson, Mississippi.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Jones.
Nan loved her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “G”. She was a very talented artist and avid gardener who loved to prepare family meals. She was very generous and passionate to a fault. Nan always had an encouraging word and was very attentive to her family and the needs of others. She loved reading her Bible, praying for family, friends and neighbors daily.
She is survived by her son, James William Bridges II, and his girlfriend, Nancy; two daughters, Elizabeth Rambin, and her husband, Craig, of Monroe, Louisiana, and Jo Lynda Bridges of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Sarah, and her husband, Hudson Biedenharn, William Bridges, Christian Bridges, Rachel Bridges and Ethan Bridges; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jayme; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime friends.
Due to the pandemic, a small private memorial service will be held for the family. The family has asked that any flowers, plants or cards be sent to Hadden Hall Apts. Building 1, 3610 Caswell St., Wilmington, NC 28403.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude for the exceptional support provided by the caregivers at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. Their expertise, guidance and warm hearts made a difference in all of our lives while caring for Nan.
