SOUTHPORT — Phyllis Mae Blackwell, 88, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020.
Mrs. Blackwell was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Thelma McNeilly. Phyllis was a member of Beach Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving and working with children in children’s church and Sunday school.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Robert Roy Blackwell; daughter, Diane Blackwell of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren, Mike, Shaun and Jen; two great-grandchildren, Kate and Anastasia; brother, Gordon McNeilly; and daughter-in-law, Carla White. She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Blackwell; sister, Geraldine McClellan; and brother, David McNeilly.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 16, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Wrenn officiating. The family will have visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery. A service will be broadcast via Facebook Live and will remain online for future viewing.
