WILMINGTON — Robert Eugene “Bobby” Dew, 80, born Dec. 5, 1939, in Wilmington, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020, with his devoted wife and family by his side.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Little Dew; son, Robert Dew (Kimi); daughters, Cindy Cross (Morris), Susan Dew-Knight and Audrey Morrison (Jeff); grandchildren, Burton Dew (Kelsey), Spencer Dew (Carol), Holly Dew, Sarah Cross, Samantha Cross and Victoria Morrison Boyle (Timmy); twin brother, Jimmy Dew (Nikki); sister, Faye Smith; and sister-in-law, Gerri Little Pettus.

Bobby was an avid fisherman, and, with his best catch, Phyllis, they enjoyed their lush flower and vegetable gardens together. And, oh how he loved her boiled peanuts.

Bobby proudly shared his athletic accolades as a former athlete of the year and three-time letterman, as well as fishing stories with many pictures to back them up, with those around him throughout his life. With excessive pride, he never missed an opportunity to share the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He retired from International Paper after 42 years of service.

A private service is planned due to the current pandemic.
