CAROLINA SHORES — Michael Nelms, 43, made the journey home to be with our Lord Wednesday, May 6, 2020. He will be dearly missed by those he left behind.
He worked very hard as a carpenter and was very proud of his creations. Michael was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved to be constantly on the go. He loved his family and friends more than anything and never met a stranger, they were simply friends he hadn’t made yet.
Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Annie Hall; and paternal grandparents, Leslie and Alvie Nelms. He was also preceded by his father, Mart Andrew “Andy” Nelms.
Michael is survived by his mother, Brenda Nelms; son, Hunter Nelms; daughter, Hailey Nelms; two brothers, Mark Nelms and Tommy Nelms; as well as his nieces, Chelsea Branch (Brandon) and Megan Pearce (James); and nephews, Titan “T.J.” and Preston.
He is also survived by great-nephews, Leon Travers and Damien Branch; great-niece, Ryleigh Pearce; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and various family and friends who all loved him.
His greatest companion and best friend, Push Rod, also survives Michael.
As was his wish, Michael was an organ donor and has now saved four other lives that we know of and has many opportunities to help further. While this does not lessen the pain of loss for this family, it does at least give us solace in the knowledge that Michael is in some way living on through these lives.
