Jane Sanderlin Alberti, 88, instrumental in the creation of Wilmington Crime Stoppers

WILMINGTON — Jane Sanderlin Alberti, 88, died Sunday, March 29, 2020, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

She was born May 7, 1931, to the late Franklin and Ruth Sanderlin.

Jane worked for the Wilmington Police Department for many years and was instrumental in the creation of Wilmington Crime Stoppers. She graduated from UNCW with a B.A. Degree in Philosophy and Religion. She was a devoted member of Lake Forest Baptist Church for 62 years. She taught Sunday school and served in many other capacities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wingate Alberti Sr.; and daughter, Michelle Burns.

Survivors include her children, Deborah Steiner, Tome Alberti and Yvonne Rumple; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn and Geraldine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.
