WILMINGTON — LeRoy Webster Franks, 76, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, at his home with his beloved wife by his side.
He was born May 23, 1943, in Washington, North Carolina, the son of the late Barney and Annie Laura Whitford Franks.
Surviving are his wife of over 30 years, Shirley Mitchell Franks; two stepchildren, Mark Mitchell Southern and Kimberly Page Southern; two grandchildren, Caroline Datema and Conner Bland; and two sons from a previous marriage.
LeRoy and Shirley were married in 1988 at Chapel by the Sea in Emerald Isle and they made their home in Carolina Beach for over 30 years before recently moving to Wilmington.
LeRoy was a 1962 graduate of Havelock High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended Lenore Community College and Campbell College and was an electrical engineer employed as a contract worker.
A graveside committal will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Lakeview Cemetery, Greensboro. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, at Cape Fear Baptist Church with a reception to follow at the church.
Memorials may be made to Cape Fear Baptist Church Youth Department.
