
BOILING SPRING LAKES — Joseph Carson “Joe” Ward, 65, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019. Mr. Ward was born April 11, 1954, to the late Richard and Avis Ward.
After high school, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He retired from Duke Energy, having worked at the nuclear power plant in Southport for 38 years. Joe was a technologically-savvy person, he worked on all sorts of electronics, built computers and was a remote control airplane enthusiast. Joe was happy to share his knowledge and help anyone he could. He was a huge NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Ward, who he married in 1991; daughter, Kristen Sneltjes, and her husband, James; son, Richard Ward; daughter, Emma Ward; brother, Kent Ward, and his wife, Gretchen; sister, Karen Croninger, and her husband, Larry; many nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jeffrey and Nancy Scholl; brother-in-law, Michael Scholl; and three sisters-in-law, Andrea Berscheid, Megan Ransom and Katie Proctor.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church. The family will hold visitation from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
