WILMINGTON — Hollie Ruth Pankey Kelly, 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at her home. Ruth was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Anson County, daughter of the late Daniel James and Rona Owen Pankey.
Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Kelly; daughters-in-law, Becky Meshaw and Cindy Meshaw; and sisters, Hazel Pankey Grizzle and Sarah Louise Pankey Cribb.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Meshaw, and his wife, Cheryl, of Greenville, Eddie Meshaw, and his wife, Beverly, of Wilmington, Greg Meshaw of Lexington, Terry Meshaw, and his wife, Rebecca, of Rocky Point; sister, Cornelia Carter, and her husband, Phil, of Jacksonville; brother, James Pankey, and his wife, Sandra, of Rocky Point; and 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Prior to her illness Ruth, was an active member of Castle Hayne Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the workers from Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the loving care they provided to her. They would also like to express thanks to the caregivers who faithfully attended her on a daily basis and for the services provided by the Home Delivered Meals Program.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 16, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
