WILMINGTON — Gregory Peter Kot, 58, was born Nov. 11, 1960, and passed away Monday, April 22, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shanne Murphy; and parents, Peter and Ann Kot, M.D.
Greg attended the University of Notre Dame. While in school, he pitched for the baseball team and studied architecture, where he fell in love with his wife Shanne Murphy.
Greg practiced architecture in Charleston, South Carolina, and Alexandria, Virginia, prior to residing in Wilmington. Together, Greg and Shanne raised two wonderful daughters, Phoebe and Sophie. Outside of work, Greg enjoyed spending time with his daughters fishing, skeet shooting, watching college athletics and attending Notre Dame football games.
Greg’s friends will remember his wicked sense of humor, his laughter, his handsome smile. He was a loyal friend to many, of all ages, always dedicated to those he loved and to those who loved him. We all rejoice in his final journey. Rest in peace Greg, knowing you will be missed, and eternally loved. That your friendship was the most precious gift you gave us. That we are all better people for having had you in our lives.
Greg is survived by his daughters, Phoebe and Sophie; and siblings, Margaret, Mark, Katie, Ann and James, and their families. Always a dog lover, he also leaves behind his loyal, four-legged friend, Bandit. They shared many adventures together.
A graveside service for Gregory will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 N. 15th St., Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to the University of Notre Dame, memo: Murphy/Kot Scholarship Fund.
