WILMINGTON — William “Billy” Morton, 76, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019.

He was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Wilmington to the late Adron and Dora Morton.

He served in the U.S. Army, was a charter member of the Sun Coast Cruisers, and retired as a field tax auditor for the Employment Security Commission. Billy’s passion was working on muscle cars. He had a kind heart and loved all of God’s creatures.

Billy married the love of his life, Barbara, and they were together for 54 years. Billy was a planner; together they worked the plan. They spent many hours together antiquing.

His favorite sayings were, “make a plan and work your plan” and “waste not, want not.”

Left to remember him are his wife, Barbara Morton; special cousins; brother-in-law, George Lee Sluder, and his wife, Joan, of Penderlea; many special nieces and nephews; and his beloved fur babies, Sunshine, Crystal and Sam.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wilmington, with Pastor Robert Keatts officiating.

Memorial gifts may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington.
