WILMINGTON — Pastor Iris Pope Fowler, 87, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019.
She was born Nov. 21, 1931, to Leonidas and Lela Pope.
Pastor Iris was the widow of Dr. George W. Fowler Sr. and was the pastor at Federal Point Pentecostal Church. She was loved and respected by her many friends, church members and her family. She was truly a servant of God always preaching, teaching and witnessing. Pastor Iris always had a smile and good word for everyone she met.
Pastor Iris is survived by her children, Steve W. Williams (Marsha), Michael W. Williams (Ruth), George W. Fowler Jr. (JoAnn), Pam Lewis (Buddy), Linda Brown (Roy) and Cheri Bundy (Wayne); grandchildren, Cathy Wells (Marvin), Carol Culler (Phillip), Mac Lewis, Steven Williams (Shelby), Alex G. Williams, Jamie Fowler, Tony Fowler, Julie Williams (Sascha), Christina Tyner (Shane), Teresa Hunt, Rebecca Huseman, Scott Cottle, Jeff Wood, Jonathan Wood, Shane Blackburn, Daniel Bundy, Amanda Bundy, Joshua Bundy and Katie Smith (Jared); 19 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Harry Pope (Inez); and sister, Carolyn Ward. She was preceded in death by two children, Kenneth G. Williams and Patricia Spivey.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at Federal Point Pentecostal Church officiated by Pastor John Butler Sr., Pastor Edna Cavanaugh, and the Rev. Judy Powell. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steven Williams, Alex Williams, Mac Lewis, Jamie Fowler, David Ward and Donnie Ward.
