WILMINGTON — Cleo Haase, 85, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019. He was born Oct. 7, 1933, in Bracken County, Kentucky, to Dorothy
Perkins and Alva Cann. Raised by Dorothy and adoptive father Otto Haase in Indiana, he graduated from Milan High School in 1952. Cleo was a U.S. Army veteran, and he worked in the aircraft industry as a welding specialist with GE for over 42 years until retirement in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Lattire; and son, Douglas Keith. Cleo is survived by son, David of Rocky Point; daughter, Pamela Latter (Gerald) of Wilmington; and
grandchildren, Megan Haase, Benjamin Latter and Julia Latter.
Cleo enjoyed the brotherhood of freemasonry, woodworking, photography and traveling. He was past master (1997 and 2004) of St. John’s 39, Lodge No. 1, Wilmington. He was a member of Windermere Presbyterian Church.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Oleander Memorial Gardens, Wilmington, with Pastor Mark Murphy officiating. Masonic rites will be accorded by St. John’s Lodge No. 1 A.F. & A.M. A reception will immediately follow at the home of Pamela and Gerald Latter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cleo’s name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
